Rezession lässt Frauen besser verdienen
Jedenfalls statistisch. Frauen werden in der aktuellen Krise nicht wirklich besser bezahlt als Männer. Aber die Entlassungswellen treffen offenbar zu 82 Prozent Männer in gut bezahlten Jobs. Damit verdienen Frauen im Durchschnitt der Bevölkerung mehr:
In recessions, the percentage of families supported by women tends to rise slightly, and it is expected to do so when this year’s numbers are tallied. As of November, women held 49.1 percent of the nation’s jobs, according to nonfarm payroll data collected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. By another measure, including farm workers and the self-employed, women constituted 47.1 percent of the work force.
Leider sorgt die Rezession aber wohl auch dafür, dass immer mehr Frauen freiberuflich im Fetisch-Gewerbe arbeiten.

“In some cases, money may just serve as a score – the higher number wins, regardless of the actual value,” said John Opfer, co-author of the study and assistant professor of psychology at Ohio State University. So in one study, the researchers had 48 college students play the prisoner’s dilemma game. Half of them played for dollars, and half played for the equivalent amount in cents. For example, some pairs could earn $3 for mutual cooperation, while others would earn 300 cents. They played the game 80 times in a row. The study showed that the students who played for 300 cents cooperated more often than those who played for 3 dollars – even though both groups were playing for the same economic reward. That means that those students playing for 300 cents acted as if they had more at stake than did those who were playing for 3 dollars.

A PhD thesis defended at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) has investigated the relationship between adolescents’ perception of their physical qualities and their psychological well-being and unwellness. Self-concept may be defined as the totality of perceptions that each person has of themselves, and this self identity plays an important role in the psychological functioning of everyone. To date, however, there has been no investigation into the relationship that physical self-concept has with psychological well-being or psychological unwellness. The data obtained indicated that physical self-concept is related in a positive manner with the psychological well-being of the individual and in a negative manner to psychological unwellness, in such a way that the more one is happy with one’s physique, the more psychological well-being one has, with less levels of anxiety and depression and less risk of suffering from an EBD.

Studie: Gute Manieren kommen eher aus armen Elternhäusern. Studenten, die aus einem Elternhaus mit hohem Einkommen und hohem Bildungsgrad stammen, zeigen dagegen häufiger unverbindliches Stoffelverhalten. Die Erklärung: Menschen aus höheren sozialen Schichten sind von anderen unabhängiger. Diese fehlende Abhängigkeit äußert sich dann in einem weniger zugewandten nonverbalen Gesprächsverhalten
